Find out more about Nicky...

Aged four, Nicky began her dancing life (in plimsolls as her mum didn't think she would stick at it) at the renowned local dance school The Marie Colebrook School of Dance in Louth, performing in pantos, shows and dance festivals.

Eventually the school transferred to Cleethorpes and her tuition continued with Kate Egholm, Penny Smith and I.S.T.D examiner Penny Lazenby, where she eventually became a teacher herself.

With only one career path in mind and aged just 18, Nicky passed her first teaching exam in London and freelanced around various schools in Lincolnshire and Humberside.

Her tap associate, for which she gained a distinction, was followed shortly by her R.A.D teaching certificate giving her fully registered teaching status with the R.A.D. and I.S.T.D. and the Stepping Out Dance Academy was born with her partner June Vinters whilst still only 19.

Her latest qualification was passed in 2010,the diploma in dance and education in modern theatre and tap (DDE).

Nicky Wright - Dance teacher Louth Lincolnshire

During her 27 years of teaching (as well as getting married and having two children, both budding dancers) Nicky's students have taken and passed hundreds of R.A.D and I.S.T.D ballet, modern theatre and tap exams from pre-primary to advanced certificates.

They have also performed with the English National Ballet, in the West End with Gareth Gates and Jodie Prenger (Nancy in Oliver),on cruise ships and have had major character roles in Disneyland Paris shows and parades.

Several have gone on to teach or tour the UK with dance troupes. Some have been accepted/are currently studying at vocational musical theatre schools including: Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, Arts Educational School, Royal Academy of Music all in London, Laine Theatre Arts in Epsom and Bodyworks Company in Cambridge.

Closer to home, Studio 2000 have danced alongside a professional cast in one of the country's most popular touring shows "Mad About Musicals".

The school also has a close association with the Riverhead Theatre in Louth where they perform in musicals, pantomimes and their annual summer show in which everybody is invited to participate regardless of experience.

Nicky describes Studio 2000 as a friendly family run school with her "Nan" on reception and her "Mum" as administrator / costume maker / P.A. and general irreplaceable dogsbody. Nicky prides herself of being the sole teacher of her 200 plus students, although she has some very experienced teaching friends upon whom she can rely if necessary. She is currently still wondering how much longer she needs to "stick at it" before her mum will buy her some dance shoes!
